The walking event Vaasan Marssi has been approved as the
Finnish representative among the events of the international walking organisation
(IML).
The event has been granted both IML and IVV rights, which means that each
walker can buy himself a walking passport and start collecting stamps
from different walking events and different walking distances. The IML stamp
is available in Finland only in Vaasa and for the present in
24
other countries.
Several events grant IVV-stamps (see the calendar of events
from IVV).
IML grants different medals and marks against certain stamps. Further
information at the registration point, or at the finish, goal area. Closing festivities
start at 3 p.m. on the final day of the event August 9.
The event Vaasan Marssi has its own unique series of
different medals. The motive of the medals has to do with the Finnish west
coast and the local geological phenomenon called land uplift.
A three days IML -performance (does not include the routes
of 10 km) entitles to a medal and an IML-stamp.
A full-length (21+42+42 or 15+42+42) performance entitles to the I-medal
and the other combinations of IML-distances (for example 21+21+21 or
15+42+30)
entitle to the II-medal.
If you participate the second, third or fourth time you receive a separate
number in your medal ribbon. The medal series will expand so that having
participated 5, 10, 20 times the medal of the new series will be rendered,
naturally even more glorious than the previous one.
The participant will receive a separate IVV-stamp for each day's
performance at Restaurang Strampen.
All participants are also entitled to the Vaasa Marssi diploma.
